So while I was working on a client’s site last night, I managed to jump over to an unstable and malicious site. Ended up installing a bunch of hacks into my browsers and system and completely disabled any regular use of the internet for me… I use firefox and run anti-spy/virus software in the background – and this thing still managed to get in my system and destroy me!
Anyway, I spent all morning trying to fix it and manually extract the POS from my system with no luck. So instead of messing around with it for hours more, I decided to go the alternative route – a fresh install of my OS.
This is usually a huge pain in the touchas, but it’s good to do it every once in a while, and I’ve had my laptop for almost three years and have yet to flash it. So I spent the better part of today backing up all of my important files, reinstalling the OS, and installing all of my massive applications – Photoshop, Office, Acrobat, etc…
It’s amazing how much faster this little machine is now. It flies and has plenty of room to spare. Let’s hope it stays this way!
